About Coolmaine

Attention: Cork County Council has informed the EPA that this bathing water is considered unsafe for swimming and bathing due to the presence of estuarine channels and hazardous conditions, including currents, sudden changes in depth and deep water near the shore. Consequently, no water sampling will be conducted at this beach for the 2025 season due to health and safety concerns. The situation will be assessed over the 2025 bathing season. Coolmaine Beach is a west-facing, gently sloping, sandy beach which is bounded to the south by a low rocky cliff, with rocky outcrops to the north. This beach is subject to occasional large accumulations of sea lettuce which grows in Argideen/Courtmacsherry Estuary, Garranefeen Strand and Coolmaine Bay. The beach is contained within Courtmacsherry Bay Special Protection Area (SPA 004219) and Courtmacsherry Estuary a Special Area of Conservation and a proposed Natural Heritage Area (SAC, pNHA 001230). The beach is used to some extent by anglers.. View available amenities and tide information at Beaches.ie.
