Temporary Closing of Public Road - N22 National Primary Road from Coolcower to Tonn Láin Junction - one carriageway at a time only


TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROAD – N22 National Primary Road from Coolcower to Tonn Láin Junction – one carriageway at a time only – opposite carriageway will remain open.


Notice is hereby given that Cork County Council will, pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993, temporarily close the public road as detailed below, for the period specified and that the alternative routes described below will be available while the road is temporarily closed. The closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of Project Artworks on the N22 National Primary Route.


Road to be Closed:


N22 Macroom – Baile Bhuirne, Co. Cork (New Bypass).

Coolcower to Tonn Láin Junction – one carriageway at a time only – opposite carriageway will remain open.


Dates of Closure:


From 22:00hrs on Tuesday 26th March 2024 to 06:00hrs on Wednesday 27th March 2024.

From 22:00hrs on Wednesday 27th March 2024 to 06:00hrs on Thursday 28th March 2024.


Alternative Routes


Westbound Traffic


At Coolcower Roundabout take the R618 through Macroom Town. Follow the R618 to the Tonn Láin Junction (Baile Mhic Íre) to rejoin the N22.


Eastbound Traffic


At the N22 Tonn Láin (Baile Mhic Íre) Junction, exit the N22 and turn right onto the L3409, continue to the roundabout and take the first exit onto the R618 (old N22). Follow the R618 to Macroom and continue through Macroom town before rejoining the N22 at Coolcower Roundabout.


The diversion routes will be fully signposted.
