ROADS ACT, 1993

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council will close the following roads for the period and reason specified below:

Roads Subject of Proposed Closure

Wolfe Tone Street (R-880-0), Ashe Street (R-880-0), Pearse Street (R-880-0), Astna Street (L-4036-1), Rossa Street (L-4039-0), Connolly Street (L-4039-0), Clonakilty, Co. Cork.

Period of Proposed Closure

From 07:00hrs to 22:00hrs (Daily Closure) on Saturday 13^th June 2026

Closure Varies for different streets.

Wolfe Tone Street (R880), From 11:00hrs to 18:00hrs

Ashe Street (R880), Astna Street (L4036-1), Rossa Street (L4039-0) From 07:00hrs to 18:00hrs.

Pearse Street (R880) From 07:00hrs to 19:30hrs

Connolly Street (L4039-0) From 17:00hrs to 22:00hrs

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Clonakilty Street Carnival 2026.

Alternative Routes

The alternative route to West Cork from the east will be via N71 bypass.

The alternative route to Emmet Square from the east will be via N71 Bypass and Gaol Road(L-4043-0).

The alternative route to Kent Street (L-4041-0) and Kent Street Car Park from the east will be via N71 bypass and Connolly Street (L-4039-0) until 17:00hrs.

Alternative route from the N71 bypass to Kent Street/Rossa Street between 17:00hrs to 22:00hrs will be via Gaol Road (L-4043-0) and Emmet Square.

Access to the town center from the west via Western Road, Oliver Plunkett Street, Bridge Street or alternatively N71 Bypass and Gaol Road (L-4043-0) or Connolly Street (L-4039-0).

Alternative route from Kent Street to the N71 bypass between 17:00hrs to 22:00hrs will be via Rossa Street (L-4039-0), cars can go straight up McCurtain Hill or go left on to Pearse Street (R880) from 19:30hrs.

Local Access will not be maintained throughout the duration of the closure.
