Temporary Closing of Public Road # N20 Ballybeg Bends, between New Twopothouse to Lisballyhay Junction / Dates , Time:- Tues. 28-09 to Fri. 16-10, 08:00-20:00

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROAD

Road to be Closed: - N20 National Primary Road, between New Twopothouse (N20/R581) and Lisballyhay Junction (N20/L-1328-0)

Alternative Route: - Northbound traffic will be diverted right at the N20/R581 junction  at New Twopothouse onto the R581 towards Doneraile. Traffic will travel on the R581 through Doneraile village before continuing onto the L-1328-0. Traffic will then travel on the L-1328-0 for 9.3km before turning right and rejoining the N20 at the junction of the L-1328-0/N20. 

Southbound traffic will be diverted left at the N20/L-1328-0 Lisballyhay junction towards Doneraile. Traffic will continue along the L-1328-0 for approximately 9.3 km before continuing onto the R581 at Doneraile. Traffic will then proceed through Doneraile and continue towards New Twopothouse, where it will turn left and rejoin the N20 at the R581/N20 junction. 

Note: - Site Works to be completed in the area of Ballybeg Bends, between Boherash Cross (north of N20/R581 New Twopothouse Junction) and Ballybeg Abbey (south of Buttevant). No through Traffic during Road Closure operation, except for Emergency Services, Bus Eireann, and Local School Buses. Local access will be maintained and permitted, i.e. access to Buttevant available from northern side of Road Closure.

Dates & Times: - Tuesday 28th September to Friday 16th October, between 08:00 to 20:00 (or as deemed earlier pending completion of Site Works).

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROAD – N20 BALLYBEG BENDS – HD28 2026 - National Primary Road between New Twopothouse (N20/R581) and Lisballyhay Junction (N20/L-1328-0).

Notice is hereby given that Cork County Council will, pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993, Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, temporarily close the public road  as detailed below for the duration specified. The closure is necessary to facilitate the removal of failed sections of pavement, subsequent strengthening of these sections and resurfacing with bituminous macadam. Works will also include road markings and traffic management.

Road to be Closed:

A section of the N20 National Primary Road between New Twopothouse (N20/R581) and  Lisballyhay Junction (N20/L-1328-0).

Dates of Closure:

From Tuesday 29^th September 2026 to Friday 16^th October 2026. Day time Closure Only 08:00hrs to 20:00hrs Monday to Friday each week.

Alternative Routes:

Northbound Traffic:

Northbound traffic will be diverted right at the N20/R581 junction  at New Twopothouse onto the R581 towards Doneraile. Traffic will travel on the R581 through Doneraile village before continuing onto the L-1328-0. Traffic will then travel on the L-1328-0 for 9.3km before turning right and rejoining the N20 at the junction of the L-1328-0/N20.

Southbound Traffic:

Southbound traffic will be diverted left at the N20/L-1328-0 Lisballyhay junction towards Doneraile. Traffic will continue along the L-1328-0 for approximately 9.3 km before continuing onto the R581 at Doneraile. Traffic will then proceed through Doneraile and continue towards New Twopothouse, where it will turn left and rejoin the N20 at the R581/N20 junction.

The diversion routes will be fully signposted and advance notice will be provided via Variable Message Signs. Emergency services will be accommodated at all times through the N20 road closure site.

Tugtar fógra leis seo, go ndeanfaidh Comhairle Contae Chorcaí, de bhun Alt 75 d'Acht na mBóithre 1993, agus Airteagal 12 de Rialacháin na mBóithre 1994, an bóthar seo a leanas a dhúnadh go sealadach do thrácht poiblí de réir mar a mhionsonraítear thíos don tréimhse a shonraítear. Tá an dúnadh riachtanach chun baint codanna den chosán ar theip orthu, neartú na gcodanna ina dhiaidh sin agus athdhromchlú an chosáin le tarramhacadam biotúmanach a éascú. Taistealóidh an trácht ar an R581 trí shráidbhaile Dhún ar Aill sula leanfaidh sé ar aghaidh ar an L-1328-0. Taistealóidh an trácht ar an L-1328-0 ar feadh 9.3km ansin sula gcasfaidh sé ar dheis agus fillfidh sé ar an N20 ag an acomhal L-1328-0/N20.

Atreorófar an trácht atá ag dul ó dheas ar chlé ag an N20/L-1328-0 Acomhal Lios Bealach Átha i dtreo Dhún ar Aill. Leanfaidh an trácht ar aghaidh feadh an L-1328-0 ar feadh thart ar 9.3 km sula leanfaidh sé ar an R581 ag Dún ar Aill. Rachaidh an trácht trí Dhún ar Aill ansin agus leanfaidh sé ar aghaidh i dtreo Thigh Nua an Dá Phota, ait a gcasfaidh sé ar chlé agus fillfidh sé ar an N20 ag an acomhal R581/N20.

Beidh cuaillí eolais cuimsitheacha ar na bealaí atreoraithe agus tabharfar réamhfhógra trí Chomharthaí Teachtaireachtaí Athraitheacha. Freastalófar ar sheirbhísí éigeandála i gcónaí trí láithreán dúnta bóthair an N20.
