Road Closure - R586 North Main Street, Bandon from Monday 17th April to Friday 5th May 2023 to facilitate Road Resurfacing.

ROADS ACT, 1993

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

 

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council will close the following road for the period and reason specified below:

 

Road Subject of Closure

R-586-0 (Part), North Main Street, Bandon, Co. Cork.

 

Period of Closure

From 07:00hrs on Monday 17^th of April 2023 to 17:00hrs on Friday 5^th of May 2023. (24hr Closure).

 

Reason for Closure

To facilitate Road Resurfacing.

 

Alternative Routes

Heavy Goods Vehicles:

Traffic intending to access North Main Street from Kilbrogan Hill and Emmet Row will be diverted west along the R-586-12 passing the Dunmanway Road, follow the road onto the R-586-25, then at Carhoon East turn left onto the L-2019-0 heading towards Baxter’s Bridge, follow the road to its junction with the N71 at Knockaveale, then turn left onto the N71-982, then continue on to N71-993 & N71-1001, take a right at the mini roundabout onto Kilbrittain Road (N71-1013), then turn left onto the Bypass Road (N71-1018) followed by the  N71-102, take the 1^st exit at the roundabout onto the Glasslinn Road (R586-0), follow the road, then at the junction turn right onto St Finbarr Place and continue onto Bridge Place (R-586-0) whereby then approaching the closed road from the opposite side of the road closure.

Heavy Goods Vehicles’s approaching Bandon on the R-586-0 from Enniskean intending to traverse North Main Street, will diverted right at Carhoon East onto the L-2019-0 and follow the diversion.

 

Non-Heavy Goods Vehicles:

Traffic intending to traverse North Main Street from the west side shall divert left onto the L-2023-0 at the Shambles, then turn left onto R589-0 (Kilbrogan Hill), turn right onto L-2040-0 (Old Cork Road), turn right onto L-2041-0, to approach closed road from the opposite side at Bridge Place.

 

The above stated diversions are applicable in reverse when travelling the opposite direction.

Local access will be maintained as works progress, where it is possible.

 

The road closure will only be implemented within the stated timeframe as required to carry out the works.
