About Redbarn

Redbarn beach is a south facing, gently sloping, sandy/pebble beach. It is located on an approx. 5km long stretch of sandy coastline and is quite open to rough weather and rough seas. The beach is bounded to the rear (north west) by sand dunes leading to agricultural lands, to the north is Ballyvergan Marsh a proposed Natural Heritage Area (pNHA 000078) and to the south is Ballymacoda (Clonpriest & Pillmore) a proposed NHA (pNHA 000077) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC 000077). The beach is used to some extent by anglers, walkers, surfers and windsurfers.. View available amenities and tide information at Beaches.ie.

Latest Annual Bathing Water Quality Report

Redbarn is classified as achieving Excellent Water Quality in 2023 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2020 to 2023. Redbarn has achieved an Excellent Water Quality rating for the four consecutive years 2020 to 2023. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health.
